At Affinity Trust, we support people to live meaningful lives on their own terms. As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in promoting independence, building social connections, and offering compassionate, tailored care.
In this role, you will support adults with lots of different needs such as learning disabilities, Autism, Parkinsons, Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy and positive behaviour support. You will provide essential support to people we support during the day, fostering connections and sharing interests. Whether they love watching late-night movies in their home, the community or need assistance getting up early, your presence will be invaluable. You will build meaningful relationships and offer thoughtful, responsive care, empowering individuals to navigate life with confidence and independence.
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine passion for helping others
- Honesty, reliability, and commitment to our values
- Compassion, patience, and creativity
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- An interest in exploring activities with the people we support
Previous care experience is helpful but not essential - we’ll provide full training. What matters most is your drive to brighten someone’s day, celebrate their achievements, and empower them to live with confidence and independence.
We’ll give you full training on how to support people well. What we can’t teach is the passion and values you bring: the joy of celebrating someone’s achievements, the kindness in wanting to brighten their day, and the patience to walk beside them, one step at a time.
As a Support Worker, you’ll provide high-quality, person-centred care, helping people live life their way. This means offering companionship, personal care, support with medication, finances, meals, household tasks, appointments, shopping, activities, and even trips away. Most importantly, you’ll encourage independence, build confidence, and help people stay connected with friends, family, and their community.
What the role involves
- Working shifts every Saturday and Sunday on a rota between 7:00am and 10:00pm
- Attending meetings, training, and completing daily records
- Adapting support to individual needs and goals
- Planning activities and meals with the people you support
- Advocating for access to services and opportunities in the community
What we’re looking for
- Strong communication and written skills
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Compassion, creativity, and flexibility in supporting others
- A genuine drive to help people live full and independent lives
Our values in action
- Working together: Respecting differences, building trust, and supporting each other
- Giving our best: Staying dedicated, responsible, and focused on what matters most
- Having courage: Being open to new ideas, using creativity, and adapting support
At the heart of this role is making every day meaningful - helping people take steps toward their goals, celebrating even the smallest wins, and giving them the confidence to live life on their own terms.
