What’s important to you? Is it being included? Having choice over what you do? Taking part in the things that matter most to you? Flexible working? Working in a supportive environment? Professional growth?

We work with young people with learning disabilities, Autism and sometimes mental health conditions using Positive Behaviour Support, techniques that are built on the principles of inclusion, choice and participation. These young people are at significant risk of entering specialist residential care.

Through Positive Behaviour Support, we can change the outcomes for these young people – change their lives. Our strategies and interventions can be the difference between a locked door of residential care, or an open door to anywhere they want to go.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner, working in and around, North East Lincolnshire.

Who will I be working with?

As the Senior PBS Practitioner, you will initially be working with 2 siblings alongside a PBS practitioner whom you will line manage.  A robust PBS plan with strategies to support them to increase their quality of life is to be implemented with support, guidance and training for key stakeholders working with them. Both siblings do display behaviours of concern however, with the right support and strategies in place we will be able to provide them a safe environment to flourish.

As well as working as part of our team, you will be working in very close partnership with and alongside the young person’s family, carers and other professionals to ensure that the PBS strategies keep them living in their current placement and accessing the community.

What does a Senior PBS Practitioner do?

Provide guidance and direct coaching on the PBS plan implementation on a day-to -day basis

Contribute to the functional assessments and PBS plans for individual children and young people we support.

Deliver intensive PBS support to individual children and young people to support a reduction in behaviours of concern, increase life skills and independence, increase community engagement and improve quality of life

Support and guidance to parents/carers and a range of professionals- particularly close work with schools where applicable and local authorities to help maintain educational placements when these are in danger of breaking down.

What do I need?

Holding a full UK driving license and having access to your own vehicle is essential and you should be prepared to travel  for this role.

We are looking for someone who has a Positive Behaviour Support qualification – BTEC level 4 or above, MSc in ABA or PBS. Experience of delivering support and implementing PBS strategies to children and young people with complex needs and behaviours of concern is also essential. Those near completion of qualification may also be considered. Experience in Trauma Informed Care would be an advantage for this role.

Why work for us?

As a Senior PBS Practitioner in the North East Lincolnshire area you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a quality service and help to support the young person to achieve positive outcomes.

You will receive regular clinical supervision from an experienced BCBA and UK BA cert. UK BA cert supervision is available alongside this role if candidate meets eligible criteria.

You will be a positive role model and you will bring Affinity Trust’s values to life and share our passion and commitment to always strive to find creative ways to enrich the lives of those we support.

Mileage is covered as part of the role and all travel time is included in contracted working hours.

At Affinity Trust we value and respect flexible work arrangements.

There is opportunity for progression and growth within this role as we expect the service to develop across the North Yorkshire and Humberside ICB region.
