Compliance Officer
- Reports to: People Operations Manager
- Location: Hybrid working, with one to two days per week in Head Office in Thame, Oxfordshire.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Part-time hours will be considered.
- Salary: £36,000 per annum, depending on experience and expertise. Pro rata for part-time hours.
- Contract: Fixed-term, expected to last up to six months, subject to review

Affinity Trust is a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with other support needs to live the lives they choose.
The opportunity
We’re looking for a detail-focused Compliance Officer to join our People Operations team at Affinity Trust for a fixed-term project.
You’ll review employment records for around 2,300 colleagues, checking information and documents for regulatory audit readiness. You’ll also help improve how we store, manage, extract and report on important people data.
What you will be doing:
- Review colleague records, checking key employment terms are accurate, consistent and complete across all systems.
- Compare documents with People system data, including our HRIS, iTrent and our rostering system, SONA.
- Use reporting tools, including Business Objects, to support analysis, reporting and progress tracking.
- Identify gaps, duplicates, outdated templates and data discrepancies.
- Help identify risks linked to audit readiness, data quality and regulatory expectations.
- Maintain a clear audit tracker showing progress, gaps, risks, actions and completion dates.
- Recommend and support the implementation of improvements to how employment records are organised, managed and retrieved, including future controls, checklists and ways of working.

- You understand the purpose of employment documents and can recognise what to check when reviewing contracts, offer letters and changes to terms.
- You enjoy working carefully and accurately with detailed information.
- You can communicate clearly with colleagues across different teams.
- You understand the importance of confidentiality and handling personal information responsibly.
- You have experience in data management, record keeping, HR compliance or similar compliance checking.
- You are well organised and able to manage large volumes of information.
- You have strong Excel skills and are confident using Microsoft Office 365.
- You can analyse information, notice patterns and summarise key findings.
- You bring a practical, solution-focused and inclusive approach.
- You are confident using HR information systems or similar business systems.
- Experience using iTrent would be useful but is not essential.
