Imagine a job where you can change someone's life by doing the things you take for granted?

As a Support Worker at Affinity Trust, you’ll play an important role each day by supporting people to take part in the activities and experiences they value, helping them to live with confidence and independence.

It might be something simple like taking a walk to the shops to get a pint of milk; or something bigger like supporting someone to visit the gym for the first time, start a new hobby, or even take a trip abroad.

We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and confident support worker for a lady living in her family home, with 24/7 support in place. She is non-verbal with limited language and communicates in her own unique way, so it is important that you are attentive, observant, and willing to build a strong understanding of her communication style and body language. She loves being around people, enjoys knowing everything about those around her, and likes to be the centre of attention, while also needing space and quiet time at times.. The role involves supporting her in all aspects of daily life, including personal care, medication, daily routines, and helping her maintain as much independence as possible, as she is able to follow instructions and complete some tasks independently with the right encouragement.

She enjoys getting out and about and taking part in activities such as cinema trips, bowling, musicals, and community events, using public transport or staff cars to access activities safely.

The ideal support worker will be calm, understanding, observant, and proactive, with the ability to recognise changes in body language and behaviours that may indicate distress or frustration, while providing consistent, reassuring, and person-centred support that promotes her wellbeing, confidence, and enjoyment of life.

We provide complete training to enable you to provide the best support you can to people living with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs.

What truly matters is your kindness, positivity, and desire to make a difference in someone’s day.

Making a difference for those we support includes;

Allowing people to fulfil and enjoy their daily routines and achieve their goals

Building trust, connection, and independence

Developing yourself alongside a compassionate, mindful and dedicated team of colleagues
