Located on Englefield Estate, near Theale, Reading and managed by Affinity Trust, Englefield Garden Centre is the home of such a project.
We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity available for a Team Leader to join our team at the Garden Centre. As part of this role you will be responsible is assisting with the successful day to day running of the garden centre by processing orders, serving customers, stock control, and being able to liaise with external company representatives.
How will I make a difference?
Selling over 100,000 plants a year, Englefield is not only a thriving garden centre but also runs a horticultural therapy programmes for the people we support. The programme engages participants in horticultural activities that promote improved health and wellbeing, increased confidence and enhanced practical and social skills. The people we support take on a range of activities, including the development of the centre's plants and helping the Garden Centre meet the demands of an increasing customer base. Therefore, as part of your role you will be working alongside and supporting adults with learning disabilities by providing advice and support in line with the programme.
What do I need?
Being a Garden Centre Team Leader is very practical & hands on approach. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer services, serving on the till, creating / receiving purchase orders, stock taking, being able to liaise with external company representatives and using our EPOS system, have a good understanding of excel and outlook having a good understanding of Horticulture and willingness to learn & multitask.
Previous horticultural knowledge is essential, as is prior experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities, either through professional or personal experience.
You will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to adapt to lots of different situations and roles within your normal day. You will be required to work some weekends, be prepared to try new ideas and in return, you will be part of a team committed to providing excellent support to people with learning disabilities within an established and thriving Garden Centre.
